Adams County Creating Healthy Communities
 
 

“Water First for Thirst" is a statewide campaign to educate Ohioans about why water should be the first beverage of choice. Originally developed by Columbus Public Health, Water First for Thirst provides tools that empower communities to make more informed choices about their beverages. 

 
 
Vision: Making the Healthy Choice the Easy Choice

Mission: Creating Healthy Communities (CHC) is committed to preventing and reducing chronic disease statewide. Through cross-sector collaboration, we are activating communities to improve access to and affordability of healthy food, increase opportunities for physical activity, and assure tobacco-free living where Ohioans live, work and play by implementing sustainable evidence-based strategies CHC is creating a culture of health.

2017 Adams County CHC Projects include:

ACCHCP will complete one in-depth outcome evaluation on a tobacco free public space, and write success story.

ACCHCP will increase Policy, Systems and Environmental change knowledge by hosting a workshop in Adams County.

ACCHCP will assist the MLSD in a plan to improve one playground by adding one adaptive swing/swing set and a water bottle filling station.

ACCHCP will increase the number of adults/youth who have access to places for p/a in Peebles as evidenced by improving playground by adding an outdoor basketball court on the grounds of Peebles Youth Sports complex.

ACCHP will increase the number of adults/youth who have access to places for physical activity in Adams County as evidenced by an increase in a new playground, by installing an outdoor volleyball court at fairgrounds, an adaptive swing set at fairgrounds, and a water bottle filling station at fairgrounds

ACCHCP will assist at least one Manchester worksite to implement and/or enforce healthy food & beverage guidelines by adding one Healthy vending machine and a healthy catering/meetings policy.

ACCHCO will increase access to healthy food options in Peebles by installing one water bottle filling station

ACCHCP will assist Winchester (Adams County) in establishing a community garden

ACCHCP will assist one Manchester worksite to implement and/or enforce a 100% tobacco-free worksite.

ACCHP will assist one Peebles public space to implement and/or enforce a 100% tobacco-free worksite.

ACCHCP will assist Adams County to implement and/or enforce one tobacco-free public space.
