Hello, Manchester Elementary Students and Parents!  I am Mrs. Wilkins, the School Counselor.  I am so lucky to get to do this job!

I am a professional Ohio Licensed School Counselor at Manchester Elementary School in Manchester, Ohio. I am currently in my 15th year as an educator and school counselor.  I taught one-half year at Manchester High School as a Social Studies teacher and five years at Manchester Elementary as a Health and Physical Education teacher.  This school year (2015-2016) marks my 10th year as a School Counselor, with 8 prior years as a High School Counselor at Manchester High School. 

I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky.  While earning my bachelor’s degree I played four years of Collegiate Basketball.  I have a Master’s degree in School Counseling and Health Education from Eastern Kentucky University. The program at EKU is designed around national and state standards, including those of the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB), and the Kentucky Board for Licensed Professional Counselors.

While studying at Eastern Kentucky University I was a Graduate Assistant, Peer Tutor and a Member of Chi Sigma Iota. CSI is an international honor society that values academic and professional excellence in counseling. The mission of CSI is to promote scholarship, research, professionalism, leadership, advocacy, and excellence in counseling, and to recognize high attainment in the pursuit of academic and clinical excellence in the profession of counseling. 

As the School Counselor, I perform the following roles in order to promote positive development in academic, career, and personal/social domains:

·         Individual Counseling

·         Small group counseling

·         Classroom guidance

·         Attend and participate in academic intervention meetings

·         Organize and administer building testing

·         Observe students in various school environments

·         Consult and collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, social workers and students

·         Respond to school crises or emergency situations

·         Provide information and resources to parents on a variety of issues

I am currently a member of the following organizations:

·         ASCA American School Counselor Association

·         ACA American Counseling Association

·         ACCA American College Counseling Association
