Superintendent's Message

Welcome to Manchester Local School District, home of the Greyhounds, and for what seems to be a unique (and challenging) 2020-2021 school year! It is a wonderful privilege for me to serve this magnificent community as its superintendent. We are very proud that our entire staff takes tremendous pride in ensuring our students receive the highest quality education (onsite and remote), while preparing each student for his or her future. Furthermore, each staff member implements student-centered strategies that enhance positive behavior through our PAWs Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports program. We strive to maintain a maximum level of self-efficacy during evidenced-based instructional strategies implemented throughout the district, across our various curricula.

Although we comprehend the challenges we face in public education and how this impacts the educational process of each child, our staff is committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based instruction, regardless of whether our students experience onsite or remote learning opportunities.  We are living in unprecedented times, and the focus of brick and mortar public education is slowly giving way to online learning environments.  Subsequently, our staff strives to maintain that personal connection with our students, which is severed during the online learning process, that they desperately need and rightfully deserve.

Additionally, Manchester Local Schools encourage parental engagement through our volunteer program for academics and athletics.  We would like to encourage all parents and community members interested in serving as a volunteer to please contact the school at 937-549-4777.  Manchester Local Schools is very proud to offer an array of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that augment our students’ learning experience.  Also, Manchester Local School District offers Head Start services through ABCAP to three-year old children and Early Childhood Education services through the South Central Ohio Educational Service Center to four-year old children.  Please contact ABCAP at 937-378-6041 or the SCOESC (Sarah Rice) at 740-354-0237 for eligibility details.

We are blessed to collaborate with Valley View Health Center, which offers our students, staff, and community members access to medical, dental, vision, and mental health services.  The staff at Valley View Health Center is waiting to serve your individual needs.  Lori Rumfield, CNP, serves as our nurse practitioner; Dr. Michelle Ayres, DDS, serves as our dentist; and Dr. Jonathan Lucas, OD, serves as our optometrist. Other staff members at Valley View Health Center include Sarah Mitchell, patient access representative; Brooke Hunter, medical assistant; and Brianna Taylor, dental assistant.  Feel free to contact Valley View Health Center at 937-549-1270 to schedule your appointment.  Our mental health provider is Family Recovery Services (FRS).  Hannah Ziegengardt is our mental health counselor and may be contacted through FRS in Hillsboro, Ohio, at 937-393-9720.
